Why Choose Contact Lenses?

Contact lenses provide crisp, natural vision while offering freedom from frames. For active individuals, professionals, and those who simply prefer an unobstructed view, contact lenses offer practical, comfortable, and cosmetically discreet vision correction.

A Frame-Free Lifestyle

Many patients choose contact lenses to eliminate the need for glasses. Without frames on your face, you benefit from unobstructed peripheral vision, greater freedom in sports and physical activities, and the ability to wear sunglasses of your choice without prescription lenses.

Comfort and Visual Precision

Modern contact lenses are designed for exceptional comfort, breathability, and moisture retention. Materials like silicone hydrogel allow more oxygen to pass through to the eye, reducing dryness and increasing long-term wearability. These lenses also sit directly on the eye surface, providing sharp central and peripheral vision that is stable and natural.

Contact Lens

Versatile for Every Activity

From swimming and cycling to presentations and travel, contact lenses move with you. They won’t fog up, slip down your nose, or interfere with safety equipment. They’re also perfect for special events or cosmetic purposes, including colour-enhancing lenses for style-conscious individuals.

Our Contact Lens Services

We provide a full range of professional contact lens services, including assessments, fittings, education, and long-term care. Whether you’re a first-time wearer or an experienced user, our contact lens evaluations are designed to match the highest standard of safety and satisfaction.

Comprehensive Contact Lens Eye Examination

A contact lens consultation starts with a thorough eye exam to ensure your eyes are healthy and capable of supporting lens wear. We assess visual acuity, measure corneal shape, and evaluate tear film production to determine which lens options are suitable for your needs.

Personalised Lens Fitting and Trials

Using corneal topography and pupil size measurement, we select lenses based on the unique shape and needs of your eyes. You’ll receive a trial pair to assess comfort, clarity, and fit. Our optometrists make necessary adjustments and confirm that the lenses meet your expectations before placing an order.

Instruction and Handling Training

If you’re new to contact lenses, we provide hands-on training on proper insertion, removal, cleaning, and storage techniques. We also review hygiene and wear schedules to help prevent infection, dryness, or damage to the cornea.

Prescription and Supply Management

Once we confirm your ideal lens type, we provide a written prescription and help you order your contact lenses in-store. You may choose to purchase single boxes or take advantage of cost-saving supply packages.

Ongoing Monitoring and Support

We recommend regular follow-up exams to monitor lens fit, eye health, and prescription changes. Our team is available to answer questions, provide replacements, and manage reordering to keep your supply uninterrupted.

Types of Contact Lenses Available

Optic Edge offers all leading brands and technologies in contact lenses, including soft lenses, rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, and hybrid designs. We stock lenses for nearly every prescription and eye shape.

Daily Disposable Contact Lenses

Daily disposables offer the ultimate convenience and hygiene. You insert a fresh pair each morning and discard them at night—no cleaning required. These are ideal for individuals with sensitive eyes, allergy sufferers, or anyone who values simplicity in their eye care routine.

Monthly and Biweekly Contact Lenses

These reusable lenses are worn for a set number of days, removed nightly, and stored in a cleaning solution. They’re more cost-effective over time and offer excellent breathability and clarity. Monthly options are great for experienced users who want a balance between affordability and long wear.

Toric Lenses for Astigmatism

Patients with astigmatism require specially designed lenses that align correctly on the eye. Toric lenses provide clear, stable vision and are available in daily, biweekly, and monthly formats. We offer lenses from brands known for their precise astigmatism correction.

Multifocal and Bifocal Contact Lenses

If you need help seeing both near and far, multifocal contact lenses may be your solution. These lenses blend different zones of focus, allowing you to switch between tasks like reading and driving without needing glasses.

Coloured Contact Lenses

Coloured lenses add a cosmetic option for patients who want to enhance or change their eye colour. Available with or without prescription, they provide style flexibility along with the benefits of modern lens technology.

Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) and Hybrid Lenses

For some complex prescriptions or irregular corneal shapes, RGP or hybrid lenses may be more suitable. These lenses offer superior vision correction for certain conditions and are custom-made to fit your eye precisely.

Monitoring Long-Term Eye Health

Through regular check-ups, we track changes in corneal health, tear film performance, and overall lens tolerance. Adjustments to lens type, solution, or schedule are made to support sustainable, long-term lens wear.

Contact Lenses for Children and Teens

Children and teens can benefit from contact lenses too, especially for sport, active play, or boosting self-confidence. We offer gentle, supportive fittings and education for young patients, including options for daily disposables that minimize care routines and risk.

Contact Lens Safety and Eye Health

Safety is our top priority. Improper use of contact lenses can lead to discomfort, infection, or long-term damage. Our team works to ensure you understand proper hygiene, storage, and wearing schedules to keep your eyes healthy and your vision clear.

Hygiene and Cleaning Protocols

We review best practices for handwashing, case cleaning, and solution use. These simple steps dramatically reduce your risk of infection and extend the lifespan of reusable lenses.

Recognising Signs of Lens Issues

If you experience discomfort, redness, dryness, or blurry vision while wearing contacts, our optometrists can help identify and resolve the cause. Whether it’s lens fit, allergy, or environmental factors, we guide you to solutions that restore comfort and clarity.

What to Expect During Your Contact Lens Appointment

Your contact lens appointment begins with a full eye examination. We assess the health of your eyes, confirm your prescription, and take measurements to determine the best lens shape and fit. If you’re new to contacts, you’ll receive a trial fitting with hands-on training. We then evaluate comfort and vision clarity over a short period and make any necessary adjustments. Once your prescription is finalised, we assist in ordering your lenses and provide a schedule for replacement and follow-up.

Caring for Your Contact Lenses at Home

Proper care extends the life of your lenses and protects your eye health.

Always wash hands thoroughly before handling lenses. Use only recommended cleaning and storage solutions. Never use tap water or saliva. Replace your storage case every three months. Remove lenses before sleeping unless prescribed for overnight use. Avoid wearing lenses in swimming pools or hot tubs unless wearing protective goggles. Adhere to the recommended replacement schedule and don’t extend wear beyond limits.
